About 50 pupils come per year. They are found from late spring to mid-fall and given the chance to come to the Academy. It takes two years of learning to advance one Level in magic. There are eights Years of students at the Academy, and each year is composed of the roughly 50 students who are found at the first year. Some drop out, give up, or just don't come back, so class sizes tend to decrease slightly. A class is composed of around 25 students, so the 8 required courses (does not count Physical or Astronomy) require 16 sections. Since the Academy is based on a 7-period schedule, 3 teachers are needed to teach each of these 8 required courses. Two of the teachers teach 6 sections each, while the third teaches four sections, generally of Years 1 & 2. When a teacher is full time teaching a subject, that teacher teaches 6 sections. Part time subject teachers teach 1 to 4 sections of that subject. Full time teachers teach 10 to 14 sections, generally teaching 2 to 3 subjects. Part time teachers teach 4 to 9 sections, consisting from 1 to 3 or more subjects. A teacher in rotation generally only teaches one subject, albeit mostly full time, and only teaches M, W, F or T, H.
