"Vy, don't run off a cliff now, or I'll be the one falling to my doom." Jyla called after the small pegasus. "Wouldn't that be great," the red dun replied sarcastically. "Come on, Vy, don't be mad. Please?" Jyla extended her trot until she caught up with the loping Zvon. "Zvion?" "I'm not mad." "Then why are you in a huff?" "I didn't get to see the sights." "Vy, I'm really sorry about that. I know we came all this way just to see it." "Stop kidding yourself. We both know that I didn't just leave my herd to do some sight-seeing." "I'll stop kidding myself when you stop beating yourself up. OK?" Zvion remained silent, plunging through the grass that nearly reached his head. Jyla was half-again taller than the small stallion, but neither of them could see through the thick fog that was everywhere. It was odd, Jyla thought, how when everything looks the same you stop thinking about the present, and return to the past. "It wasn't your fault. You know that, don't you?" "It still happened." "I know." The two equines lapsed into silence as they traveled over yet another hill. "How can I control it Jyla? How?" She was silent, and wished she had a better answer for him. "I don't know. Vy, I just don't know!"

Zvion was tall for his breed, standing at an even twelve hands. Even so, he had to raise his head up to see over the grass clearly. Vy, as he was known to his friends, didn't see much of the point of trying to see through the thick mist. He had come to excape his past. Jyla came to avoid her future. They traveled slowly, shifting between a walk and a trot. Soon the sounds of the ocean beating against the shore could be heard. The ground sloped downward, and they slid toward the beach. "Wow," Jyla wispered, staring in awe as huge breaker waves crashed upon the shore. Zvion had to admit he was impressed. The waves, although some ways out, easily reached twice his height. The white foam that was kicked up by the water falling back onto itself was impressive as it slid up to their hooves. He picked up his left forleg, and watched as the water wiped the hoofprint away. Vy wished he had the ablitity to wipe away the imperfections in his life, to be powerful and impressive, but not terrifying. He admired the ocean for it's ablitilty to absorb change and keep coming back. He sighed, and let himself relax into the booming rythem of the ocean.
