Rougevet is Val'thoron's second moon but it has a lot of differences from Lumara. Most notably it makes a red hue, when the sun reflects off its surface. And it is also the smallest moon also. It only measures at 877 miles in diameter, and it also goes in reverse orbit. It raises in the West and sets in the East. There is several theories and opinions on this. Some say that it is the core of the once single moon. And that when it finally did break up. That the two larger half's started to pull it ever so slightly. And over time it started to go in the opposite direction orbit wise. Or that somehow Rougevet threaded between the other two moons. And was captured by the gravitational pull of Val'thoron. Which ever story is true, Rougevet has a reverse orbit. And so it holds a more important and prominent place over the two other moons.
Now it's orbit is farther out over Lumara, at 130,000 miles above the surface. And it's orbit takes about 24 to 28 hours to complete. It also is the fastest satellite going around Val'thoron but since it is farther out. It's orbit takes longer than Lumara due to this fact. And it has four quarters like the other two moons. It has first quarter, full and last quarter and new moon phases. And it takes about 8 days to go from one phase to the next. So 32 days to go through all phases and start over. There is one important fact and that is when this moon is in front of Brevk. Most magic users think when they see Rougevet in front of Brevk. That the magic moon is tainted and that most of their casting could fail or not work. But if there is truth to this or not remains to be seen. Or that it is all just over active imaginations and superstitions.
But there is one group that views Rougevet almost to a deity status. And that is with the Jyvnn. In fact most important places in their lands, the entrances face off to the west. So that they can view Rougevet when it first appears at twilight or early night. And the Jyvnn believe when they do see the blood moon rising over the horizon. That if any combat is to occur that they are all protected or that they are going to be victorious. But the Jyvnn are probably the only group that views a moon as an important religious symbol. But is it enough to help them in the coming crisis. But the Jyvnn believe that when the moon is bracketed by Brevk. That it then becomes more powerful and has more meaning in what ever they are doing at the time. To the Brotherhood it means that they have the blessings of Rougevet. And that any missions should be successful or that are planned during this phase of the red moon.
And is there any other group with either similar or different beliefs or feelings to the small astral body. Time is the only thing that well tell in the end. But Rougevet is doing just like Lumara. And that is going from west to east every night. Quietly and without any delay.
