I’m fond of length, so I’ll make this as short as possible. Here goes the ten rule topics of Val’thoron:
!. Have Fun, Be Polite, and Watch For Spelling Mistakes. Swearing is only allowed in-character, and please wait at least a week before reminding someone to reply to your post. Remember, capitalizing pegasus refers the the Greek legend, not a species or individual. Pegasi and pegasus are both correct, as are magic and magick.
@. Characters
To create a character, fill in the provided form. Please wait for acceptance before beginning to role-play with the character. The password for the board is here in the rules. You can also adopt characters through the adoption board by simply sending a sample post to the member, and a second copy to me (Shanza) for conformation.
Members: if you don’t reply to an adoption request (either to confirm or deny) within two weeks, the member who sent the sample post automatically gets the character (unless you posted in the vacation board).
#. Every post must be at least 200 words. Please use the word counting box at the bottom of the page to verify this. A posting order is helpful, but not required. If you don’t use one, make sure not to leave anyone out! Also, please wait a week before reminding someone to reply to a post. If someone vanishes for two weeks without posting in the vacation board, you can skip them, as otherwise threads tend to die out. They can rejoin when they come back.
Thread title markers – tell you if a thread is free for joining, has a character limit, or is closed.
[Open] = anyone can join at any time, invited or not
[Invite] or [Closed] = only those invited can join
[Limit = X] = ‘X’ number of characters can be in the thread, doesn’t matter who
[Complete] = thread completed, to be moved to the Archives
I record facts of archived threads, such as what members & characters participated, and any threads that lead into or from the archived one. This is optional, if you want to put the facts in the last post.

There really isn’t a character limit, due to the fact that Val’thoron has multiple societies which characters cannot blend across. As long as you keep them active, you can create as many as you want. You can adopt out or completely re-create those you don’t use anymore.
^. Some heads up:
+ No power playing – in other words, don’t be invincible or dictate what others are doing. We do have a little more interactive posting than most, as in you can stick in a short response for another’s character in your thread if it follows what’s been happening. However, if they don’t like it, they can re-write what happens (and you should correct your post).
+ One character can be in multiple threads, just remember the chronological order they are in.
+ The weather is just for ideas, due to my pathetic ability to keep up with the changing seasons
. Foals are born early spring to mid-summer in threads. (For example, side weather says mid-spring, but you just role-played in mid-winter. That's fine, just don't have a mare foal then!)
&. Pictures & Signatures. The text size shouldn’t be above 3 for the majority of your post, and signatures shouldn’t be wider than 600px and/or 350px tall. (Can resize pictures at photobucket) This stretches threads unreasonably, and if any taller the signature commands the thread, not the words.
*. Magick. You don’t have to have it or use it- most don’t, and often they are in positions of power. With a unicorn-pegasi cross, four possibilities occur; unicorn, pegasi, alicorn, and horse. Alicorns have both horns and wings, while horses have neither. All have equal chance of having magick. Ask the staff before creating an alicorn.
Meaning of the word: Although some people may debate this term, "Alicorn" not only refers to a unicorn's horn, but it also means "wing horn," depending on the translation. Ali- refers to a wing in Latin, and it also has basis in Italin..
Gray magick is the most rare & powerful, please don’t ask unless you have a spectacular idea for it. Several important players with this type of magick are planned, when they come in we will hold open auditions for them.
(. Foals, Breeding, and Claiming
Claiming is of mutual agreement between the mare and stallion; most unicorns only take one mate, and pegasi tend to have life-partners. We don’t hav
~ About Foals ~
When a breeding occurs, please pm me with the thread and the sire and dam information. (Sire and dam information includes height, color, build, breed, species, and grandsire & granddam info if known.) I will post the foal stats, which include the species, breed, how many foals are born, build range, height range, and color possibilities. You then choose from the possibilities and create your own unique foal (or foals). After the foals have been created I will roll for the magick grade each has (A,B,C, etc); you choose the class of magick (fire, air, energy, black, etc). Since time is fluid here, aging can occur rapidly or slowly.
~ Breeding ~
Don’t describe it, and it always results in foals. They can be adopted out, but until then they are your characters and remember to keep them active. No pleasure or force breeding. Force breeding doesn’t occur with horses, and it won’t occur here. One exception: if magick or threats are involved, force breeding can happen.
!). Warning & Bans from the site. Your first serious rule violation will result in a warning; the second a three day ban. The third lasts two weeks, and if you come back & break a serious rule for the fourth time, you will be banned from the site.
