Val'thoron has a rich and extensive history, which includes those facts which have faded into legends. As tales are told, most are twisted with each telling, until they become fabled tales through which the truth can be seen but barely. The more recent history, that of the early days of the Tribes is more factual, but also has its fables.

The most recent of the history, the stories of the equines who lived just a few generations ago or who are still alive is recorded here, and treasured highly. For these equines now have a chance to shape the future, and all the wise ones hope they have the sense to remember the mistakes of the past.

In the western reaches of the Teayagar Forest resides what is known as The Academy. Here, students are taken to an island on Klyflor Lake to learn and to study. Only those of powerful magick are accepted, and although it is a school of great knowledge, some would question its values.

Residing in the far south inland there are lush forests and beautiful rivers. It is the home of the Gwyverth, or the 'Ghost Unicorns.' They are known for their mysterious tattoos, and their ability to materialize from seemingly nowhere. Unknown to most outsiders, a vast network of caverns run throughout their territory. These caves and tunnels allow for quick movement, but are dangerous when filled with water. Guides are a must when venturing through these vast networks.

Sub-board: About the Gwyverth

In the southern reaches of the Helagar Mountain Chain lives a tribe of Pegasi and Unicorns. They are war-like and territorial, and are believed to strongly fear magic. Just to the north is the Gray Area, of which they do not speak.

'The Equines of Fire' are a tribe of fierce, tough equines with a very high emphasis on social standing. They live in the southern end of the Mortigi Desert. The Rangtou, or 'the stolen,' are comprised of those stolen as foals from their home herds. The Jyvn believe that they have a moral and social obligation to release others from their tribal origins, and in so doing those that stole a foal are required to raise it. For the first foal stolen each Jyvn has a "Eventrial" or "guiding sight" to help with the raising of the foal. Foals of the Rangtou have higher standing than their parents, and are known as Révesh, or 'second lives.' Foals of the Révesh have normal social standing.
